Tennis Open Day

The Open Day was a big success again this year - a special thanks
to David Cooper for organising, and to all those you gave of their time
to make the visitors feel welcome. Karen and Mike worked non-stop at coaching
the youngsters.
The Club attracted about 10 new members on the day, and more are likely
to follow.

Marsland

Long-time Hillside tennis coach Tim Marsland died in 2003.
Tim has been coaching at Hillside for longer than most of us can remember.
Tim was an excellent coach with the ability to enhance anybody's skills
and many members of the club have benefited from his expert and friendly
tuition. He was always interested in the club and a regular attendee at
events. We will miss him. In Tim's memory, his family have generously
offered to donate a cup that we will use for a new Junior Mixed Doubles
tournament - details of this will be given later in the year.
