Other news – in brief !
Coaching – This year we are pleased to welcome
Mike Taylor as our qualified L.T.A. coach. Mike has already held 2 successful
taster sessions for youngsters, and has formed 2 squads who have group
coaching on a Sunday afternoon. Anyone, of any age, who is interested
in having coaching please contact David Cooper (840186).
Junior Tennis – This year we have entered an
Under 16 Boys Team in the Southport and District League, so if you are
interested phone Sylvia Taylor (565493). There may also be opportunities
for some of the older youngsters to play in the senior teams occasionally,
so now is the time to get out your tennis raquets, and find your way
down to the club.
Friendly Matches – David Cooper is in the process
of arranging some friendly fixtures for this year, hopefully starting
in April or early May.
Club Afternoons and Evenings – These have continued
on Sundays from 3 p.m. throughout the winter, and Wednesday evenings
will start again on 21st April from 7 p.m.
Following on from the success of last year, we intend to carry on with
the social aspect on each second Wednesday of the month, ordering pizza
etc to be enjoyed after we’ve played.
International Tennis – Wed. 9th June –
Sun. 13th. International players such as Richard Krajicek and Mansour
Bahrami will be playing. Details are available from www.liverpooltennis.co.uk.
If there are tickets available and several people are interested in
going on either week-end day contact David Cooper please.
Rule change - At the A.G.M. in February the committee
proposed the following addition to the club rules. This is required
to enable us to apply to the Inland Revenue for ‘Community Amateur
Sports Club Status’ which among other benefits would allow us
an 80% rate relief. As there was not a quorum this could not be passed.
However if you wish to vote on this rule change this will be done at
2, Halifax Road at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, 14th April, before the next
committee meeting. A quorum is not required for this.
Rule 3b: In the event of the club being disbanded any remaining clubs
funds, after all liabilities have been cleared, will be distributed
by the Trustees to further sport within the local community. Trustees
will have complete discretion on how this is best achieved.
