Tennis.
On Thursday 15th July, the College Cup Final is being played on our
courts. This means that they are not available for members’ use
from 7pm. Feel free to come and watch though.
The League Season is almost over (4 more matches), and although it has
been a struggle to run 4 teams this year, well done to all who have
played. I’m sure we’ve all learnt from our experiences,
and the results haven’t been as bad as they could have been. Detailed
results are available on our web-site www.hillsideltc.co.uk..
This does not mean tennis is over for the year. Club Sessions for senior
and student members continue on Sundays from mid afternoon, and Wednesday
evenings from 7pm (remember the 2nd Wednesday of each month those who
want to, order pizza etc for after play).
American Tournaments take place on the last Saturday/ Sunday (alternating)
of each month, next one on Saturday, 31st July. Quite a few of us enjoyed
dodging the showers at the last one, and well done to Maureen and Rob
who were the winners.
Club Tournaments - the entry lists for these are in the clubhouse, but
due to come down soon, so make sure of your entry. Remember Finals Day
is the 11th September.
Congratulations to John, Dan, David, Alex and Tom, our Under 16 Boys
Team. In spite of their youth and inexperience, they have improved,
match by match, and were winning points, and not just the odd game,
by the end of their season.
Junior tennis continues on Fridays at 4.30pm with Anne, Karen and Sylvia,
and Sylvia will be running adult and child American Tournaments weekly
from 5.30pm
Mike Taylor’s Coaching Sessions start a new 6 week series from
next Sunday, 11th July. Group or individual coaching can be arranged
with Mike who can be contacted on 07885 297614
Social events.
Don’t forget the bar-b-cue this Sunday, 11th July, and reserve
Saturday 20th November for the Annual Presentation Evening to be held
at the Yacht Club – details nearer the time.
KEYS:
After the break-in earlier this year we’ve had to start using
shutter bolts on the kitchen door instead of a padlock. Keys for these
bolts are now available from Christine Wilde (578403) or Joan Upton
(569254). The padlock key for the gate is the same as before, as is
the door key.
