Hillside L.T.C. Newsletter November 2003(Thanks to Joan Upton for producing this Newsletter) HILLSIDE LAWN TENNIS CLUB - Autumn Update Now that the clocks have changed its time for a review of the year so far. The League season ended with mixed results:-
Thanks to all team players and captains, and to Karen Taylor and Piotr Bienkowski, this year's Club Captains. We hope you all enjoyed your tennis. Finals Day:- This took place on 8th September, and after a rainy start to the day, the sun came out and we all enjoyed a day of fine tennis. Thanks to our President Anne Howard for presenting the cups, and to all who helped make the day so successful, especially Ray Flanagan for keeping the tournaments running amicably, and for organising the finals, and to all the players who provided the entertainment.
And the results were………. In complete contrast the Marcus Trophy finals were played on Monday 3rd November, a cold, windy and not quite wet day. Lisa Flanagan and Stephen Bridge beat Angela Baron and Paul Flanagan. The last of this year's tournaments is the Betty Silvester Flood light Cup. Entry list is in the clubhouse and it takes place on Monday the 17th , Friday the 21st and Friday, 28th November. The Presentation Evening on Saturday, 15th November is at the West Lancs Yacht Club at 7.30 p.m. £8 per head with food and a disco. This is a really good evening, so if you don't have a ticket, don't worry, just contact Christine Wilde 578403, or Joan Upton 569254, and you can be there ! Finally, the change in season doesn't mean that tennis has to stop. Club
afternoons continue on Sunday afternoons from 2p.m., Adam Flint is starting
coaching a squad of juniors soon, and if you know anyone who might like
to play winter tennis Winter Membership is only £30, and lasts until
